The Catcher in the Rye is about a young boy named Holden Caulfield who is going through an emotionally hard time. After leaving school due to flunking grades, Holden sets out for New York city. During his time in New York, Holden rediscovers himself and his values. Holden Caulfield values Allie’s baseball mitt before he leaves school, the museum, and the Carousel in Central Park because they remind him of his childhood, and the innocence of childhood he hates to see children lose. Holden Caulfield values his brother, Allie. When Allie died of Leukemia on July 19, 1946, Holden was left devastated. The museum is a reflection of how much he knows and his childhood because Holden really knows more than he thinks he does. To please Fleece, Narina went to the waterfall and fixed him his favorite meal, his last meal.Fleece's favorite meal was Rainbow water, with Cherry, Strawberry, Vanilla Cream pie. In the morning, Narina checked on Fleece. He was dead, but peaceful. While she was looking at here friend Fleece, Narina felt something funny on her right and left hip. When she looked, she saw Fleece's rainbow colored wings. Narnia was happy that she had a part of her best friend. After a few years, Narina got over the loss of her best friend and was very excited to be a winged horse. Narina still lived in the wood by the waterfall and thought of Fleece every day. One very, very sunny morning , Narina heard the soft bells of an ice cream wagon. A very grouch owl (probably because he's supposed to be sleeping at that time of the day) bought rainbow sherbet in a cone. The grouchy owl took his sherbet and flew up into a tree over Narina's head. Next, a greedy pigeon came and headed straight for the owl's cone! The pigeon knocked the cone out of the owls grip and it landed on Narina's head. The rainbow sherbet was sticky and made beautiful rainbow stripes all over Narnia's body. Books Essays Books Essay Books Essay The Bible. The Iliad of Homer. Both timeless tales studied over the generations. Both began as stories. The apostles told their stories of their lives with Jesus and this went on to become recorded history and would be studied by believers and non believers alike. The Iliad is the most famous epic poem of all time that began as an oral story and also became written over time and would go on to become one of the most studied epic poems in the canon.  While not all stories go on to become life changing religious guides or great pieces of literature, people still tell stories. They always have and they always will. The main reason that people have always told stories, in my opinion, is to try to communicate some aspect of the human condition. A story allows people to express their experiences and even embellish them a little bit. Embellishment makes the story a bit more entertaining to hear and can make the storyteller feel better about the situation. We have all listened to a co-workers telling of what a horrible day that he was having! We also know that it is hard to listen to a story that is full of nothing but complaints or obstacles; it can bring the listener down along with the teller! A story with humorous embellishments helps to lighten the situation and to give the teller a better outlook on what is going on. On the same note, many people end up telling stories solely as a way to entertain. Stand up comics do this for a living. People tune in to sitcoms on a nightly basis to enjoy the humor in someone else’s life. Stories help to take the stress off of our own lives. If we can look at someone else’s life with humor or compassion or whatever feeling is called for in the story, we can better be able to do that in our own lives. Sometimes it takes looking in on someone else’s life to better grasp our own. Stories allow for fantasy and the impossible. I will never be a millionaire, but sometimes I talk about all the things I’m going to do with my non-existent money. If not for dreams, then what? Often people tell the truths of their own lives as hypothetical examples in order to get feedback or to conceptualize their own situations.  Other times they do it to be able to help understand their own feelings. No matter the type story, people enjoy telling them. It helps us relate to others and gives us a forum to explore our own feelings and experiences.

Match between system and the real world: The system should be able to speak the users language, with the correct words and the right concepts and with the right time, so it is communicating clearly with the user User control and freedom: Sometimes when youre using a device in a rush you tend to open random applications and then you have the ability to instantly abort the application, without having to go through the process of the extended dialogue. Consistency and standards: The system should always have continuity across the platform. Error prevention: The better the design is the one with the better error recovery, but also prevents users from making the same errors twice. Recognition rather than recall: The user shouldnt have to remember the information from dialogue to another, it should all be recognisable and visible to the user. Flexibility and efficiency of use: The system should have accelerators, which are unseen to the regular user but they allow the expert user to do things and navigate faster with more frequent actions. Aesthetic and minimalist design: Dialogues shouldnt contain information that is not needed in that specific area, you should always make sure your system is efficiently composed. Help users recognise, diagnose and recover from errors: Error messages and error prompt boxes should explain the problem in plain language without code, and should also precisely indicate whatever the problem may be and also give advice to the user on a solution. Help and documentation: Although a system is better without documentation, it might be necessary to provide the help and documentation, so that any such information should be easily searched for and found. It should also be focused on what the users task is and list the steps to be carried out. Task 3 (P3) McCann Phones a small and up and coming new mobile phone producer has decided to develop a new mobile phone interface for its next series of mobile phones to replace its highly successful first range. The developers have come up with three possible interfaces and they need to decide which one to use. It has been decided to carry out an investigation on the alternatives prior to production. You have the support of the software engineers and production manager so prototypes will be made available to you. As you are the resident usability evaluator it is your task to carry out any necessary survey work and to come up with proposal. Testing the system child lock To test the system youll first have to enter a child lock pass lock and then attempt to push any of the touch screen buttons and see if anything happens, and nothing should happen if the system is correctly made. This will be useful considering little children love to stand beside the washing machine when its spinning and tend to push buttons, but with the child lock they wont be able to push any buttons. The downside to this system is that the password is 4 digits long and to have half access to the system youll have to correctly enter the first 2 digits otherwise youd just be pushing the keys and nothing would be happening, so the drawback would be if you forgot the passcode you would have to end up calling the company to come and reset your password. Testing the touch screen To test this youll have to push what you want, for example, cotton, with 50 degrees Celsius and then on high spin, if the system is working properly it would input the material first and then the temperature and then lastly the amount of spins it will be doing. The touch screen with the options is useful because its simple to use and you can adjust it to the way you want it and wont have to clock the washing machine knob to the way you want it, you just have to input the things you want with a touch of a button. The big drawback to having a touch screen is that if it is dented or broken it will be not be operating properly, it probably wont even be operating at all, so you wont be able to input anything. Task 6 (P6) Bionic vision was once the preserve of futuristic technology shows. However, those Tomorrows World days could soon be reality with a pair of glasses linked to a computer offering hope to thousands of visually impaired people in Britain. Current technology that can give profoundly visually impaired people a form of sight through a retinal implant is expensive and invasive, so developing an affordable, non-invasive alternative would be a welcome improvement. And this is exactly what scientists at the University of Oxford are working on. The technology works by having a tiny video camera mounted on to a pair of glasses, which relays information to a small computer in the users pocket. The computer recognises objects or people and relays the information to the lenses via tiny LED lights. (Light-emitting diode). People would see a bright light within the lenses themselves to indicate an object. The brightness of the light would then indicate how close, or how far away the object was and that may be enough for the wearer to navigate their way around. Using a computer to interpret the world on behalf of the wearer means we could use different coloured lights in the lenses to allow different types of information to be fed back to the wearer explains Dr. Stephen Hicks, research associate in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford. The advances in mobile phone and computer game technology, such as face recognition, tracking software and depth sensors enable the visually impaired to access a whole new host of possibilities. (Extract from Metro, September 19, 2001) Explain how you would design the device and document how you would consider the input, output, the quantitative measures and qualitative measures of effectiveness of your product. This would be designed on a pair of glasses with a lens that is 5cm thick, it would need to be sort of thick to fit in a pair of small LCD screen into each of the lens. The input and out put would work in a way with different bright colours, for example if the area is clear of objects and people it would be a black light with a blue light highlighting the walls so that the user of the glasses doesnt bump into the walls, and if the user is near people it would be a black light with green light highlighting approximately where the object or person is so that the user doesnt bump into them. If its dark at night instead of the backgrounds being black they would be white and objects, people and walls would be highlighted with purple. The glasses would also be implemented with a vibrator and a sound card to make beeping noises when someone gets close to an object within a close radius of 50 centre meters, and depending on how low/high the object is, it will make a beep vibrate, the user has the ability to switch one of these of. Each beep and vibrate will have a different meaning for example if a object is really close to the person and they can walk over it, it would simple beep twice and vibrate twice, just in case they didnt hear the beep. If the person that is vision impaired isnt impaired badly, then they can ask someone to change the settings of the screen so that the black background is taken away and it is just see through but it would still highlight objects as green. If the person that is vision impaired is badly impaired, no need to worry their is a ear piece that also helps, with beeping when coming in close contact to a object. In the Details :: Personal Narrative Writing Papers
In the Details I started taking a fiction class at just the right moment in my life. It was a genre I had never been good at, and had even been afraid of since that day J.C. laughed at my pathetic attempt to write a short story about a lesbian returning home to the South, only to be welcomed by a non-accepting mother, who all but condones it when a man rapes her to teach her how a woman is supposed to be. Of course, it was an awful story, but it was agony to write. The dialogue was so forced, as I tried to spell it the way I heard it in my head, tried to capture inflections and drawls and pauses. In the end, it read more like a cartoon, and no one could empathize with my character when she got drunk, got in his truck, and didn’t scream for help or fight him off. The plot was thin, none of the characters had any motivation, and the devices I tried to use were not working. I learned then that fiction had these elements for a reason. In order to craft a good story, I had to learn to use the tools. In essays and poetry, all these things had never seemed important to me. They were usually crafted because of an idea, and I could execute that idea without worrying about literary devices or symbolism, or other large concepts. My sole needs for my writing had always been voice, subtlety, and sometimes, alliteration. Fiction was much harder than I had previously thought. It wouldn’t be until the spring of 2001 that I would try my hand at it again. I decided that spring to take an introductory fiction class at a community college. By that time, I was actually making a living as a writer (albeit a technical writer), and I was comfortable in every other aspect of my writing, but I was still afraid of fiction. It must have come at just the right time for me. Within a week after I joined the class, I was downsized at the company I had worked at for two years. My whole department was just not needed anymore, although we were the only ones writing the training for new employees. So, with nothing but time in my day between Internet searches for new jobs and calls to recruiters, I began to write some stories.

The UPS Data Center stores the package delivery, all the while providing the customer with up to minute information. It is important to note, at the same time all this is happening, all package goes through a package center and all information is stored in the data base. 3) What role does wireless communication play in the UPS systems? Answer: Wireless communication plays an intricate role in the UPS system. To ensure flexibility, the DIAD IV includes wireless connectivity options. This allows customers to communicate with devices (cellphone, computer) to track their packages. Anyone with a package to ship can access the UPS web site to track their packages. Answer: Information technology has transformed the package delivery business in a significant way. The technology has afforded companies to utilize less paper and storage space. FDI into China essays The Limited Potential of Chinas Western Region Foreign Direct Investment in China is expected to reach US$100 billion in every year of the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-10) (Annual 1). If history is any indication of the future, then China can expect biased distribution of these funds during the 11th Five-Year Plan. Attracting foreign direct investment is not an easy task. The region must possess a demanding consumer market, a developed infrastructure, and access to international markets. From 1983 to 2001 an estimated US$400 billion worth of FDI flowed into China. More specifically, the eastern coastal region accounted for 88% of Chinas total inflows of FDI, but the central region attracted just 9% and the western region little more than 3%(Ogutcu 13). The Chinese government is not ignoring this problem. The government has in fact devised the Western Development Strategy (Xibu Da Kaifa), which it officially launched in January 2000; however, disparities still remain and will continue to remain until the western region ca n become more attractive to exorbitant inflows of foreign direct investment. Although foreign direct investment into China has provided rapid growth and prosperity along the coastal region, Chinas western region will not see the same growth and foreign direct investment in future years. Foreign Direct Investment in the Eastern Coastal Region If a host country has a vast market size, an efficient infrastructure, and access to international markets, then it is a prime candidate for foreign direct investment. Often, its also about who you know and not necessarily what you know. Even after you figure out how to get into politics, you will likely find that it wont immediately pay enough money to be a career but instead a labor of love or civic duty, especially at the local level. Its a different story if youre running for Congress, where the salary is in the six figures. Few people start their political careers at the federal level though- President Donald Trump is the rare exception- so lets begin with the assumption that youre considering a run for the town council, perhaps weighing whether to launch a campaign for elected office in your community. What do you need to know first? Here are some helpful tips for how to get into politics. 1. Volunteer for a Political Campaign Every political campaign- whether it be for your local school board on up to legislature or Congress- needs hard workers, the people who serve as the boots on the ground. If you want to get an idea of how politics really works, walk into any campaign headquarters and offer to help out. Youll likely be asked to do what appears to be menial work at first, things like helping to register new voters or making phone calls on behalf of a candidate. You might be handed a clipboard and a list of registered voters and told to go canvass the neighborhood. But if you do the job well, youll be given more responsibilities and a more visible role in the campaign. 2. Join the Party Getting into politics, in a lot of ways, really is about who you know, not what you know. And an easy way to get to know important people is to join or run for a seat on your local party committee, whether its the Republicans or Democrats or some third party. In many states these are elected positions, so youll need to get your name on the local ballot, which is a good learning process in and of itself. Precinct and ward leaders are the rank-and-file of any political party and are among the most important players in the political process. Read your local newspaper. Then read your statewide newspapers. Then read the national newspapers: The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times. Find good local bloggers. Stay current on the issues. If theres a particular problem in your town, think about solutions. 5. Start Local and Work Your Way Up Get involved in your community. Go to municipal meetings. Find out what the job is about. Network with activists. Find out what the issues are. Build coalitions dedicated to changing and improving your town. A good place to start is attending your weekly or monthly school board meetings. Public education and school funding are important issues in every community in the United States. Join the conversation. 6. Run for an Elected Office Start small. Run for a seat on your local school board or town council. Most politicians who go on to serve as governors, congressmen or president started their political careers at the local level. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, for example, started out as a freeholder, a county-level elected office. The same goes for Cory Booker, a rising star in the Democratic Party. Youll want to pick a team of advisers who will offer advice and stick by you through the process. And youll want to prepare yourself and your family for the intense new scrutiny youll be getting from the media, other candidates and campaign workers who perform opposition research on you.
